Located midway up the coastline on shore of the East China Sea, Ningbo is a prosperous port city famous for its marine, fishery, trade, tourism, manufacture, and so on. Ningbo covers an area of nearly 9,400 squre kilometers and has a total population of 6 and half million people. It lies in the subtropical zone, blessed with an oceanic climate with four distinct seasons. Its average temperature is 16 degrees Centigrade.

Ningbo has a treasure of culture and arts, many of which are state protected. The 7,000-year-old Hemudu Cultural Relics are recognized as the cradle of the ancient Chinese civilization. Tianyi Pavilion is the oldest private library in China . The relics of Sakyamuni are well preserved in the King Asoka Temple . The Liang-zhu Cultural Park is a memorial to the widespread Butterfly Love story of the ancient Chinese “Romeo & Juliet.?Xikou, a suburban town of Ningbo , most famous as the native place of Chiang Kai-shek, attracts millions of visitors from all over the world every year.

Ningbo University of Technology, located in the city proper, is a full-time undergraduate university, covering an area of 641 mu (The new campus with an area of 1.370 mu is under construction). It has the educational equipment that worth 62.35 million yuan and the library with 720,000 books.

The university runs 10 subordinate colleges with 12 undergraduate majors and 33 associate degree majors. Currently, there are nearly 8,000 full-time students in the university and a staff of approximately 700, with 41 of them being professors and 133 being associate professors.

Ningbo University of Technology has conducted many foreign cooperation programs so as to learn advanced experience and emphasize to build up foreign-oriented characteristics of the university. Up to now, it has set up cooperative relationship with the universities in Australia , Germany , America , Canada , Great Britain , and other countries for managing programs, exchanging visitors and academy as well as ?Ninggao Overseas Service Center '.

1. Short Term Programs: The university runs short term theme study programs all the year round in Chinese Language and Culture, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Chinese Literature, Tourism Culture, and so on. The duration for such short term study programs may vary from 2 weeks to 8 weeks, followed by one or two weeks of field trip to major attractions in provinces in China. Courses and duration of study are adjustable upon specific requirements.

2. Long Term Programs: Placement students or students who wish to study Chinese language and culture for over half a year may fit into our beginners program, elementary program, intermediate program or advanced program according to their level of Chinese.

Application and Admission Procedures

1. Applications

Applicants should contact the International Exchange College of the university for the Application Form for International Students Wishing to Study at Ningbo University of Technology through an Email or letter.

Please submit the following documents:
· Completed Application Form
· Copies of the highest certificate of schooling and academic record (academic record is not required for short-term program applicants)
· 6 passport photos(four for the students who enroll in a program of less than six months)
· Application and registration fee of U.S. $50 (nonrefundable)

2. Admission and Visa Application

After receipt and evaluation of the above materials, the college will handle the admission notice and visa application form for foreigners wishing to study in China (also called JW202 form) and post them to the applicants.

With the JW202 form, the admission notice, passport and the relevant documents required, the applicants can apply for an X visa to study in China (for one year or longer) at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. And the applicants can also apply for an F visa for a study period of less than half a year.

1. Tuition
· Short Term Programs: U.S. $ 75 per week, U.S. $ 300 for 4 weeks
· Long Term Programs: U.S. $ 900 per semester

The above tuition does not cover fees for teaching materials, meals, and experiments, field trips and other visits, which are not designated in the teaching arrangements. Weekend downtown trips, watching performances and sports games, get-togethers and parties, etc. will be arranged. Should the students wish to travel within China on holiday or on vacation, the university can make necessary arrangements, but expenses for such travels will be borne by students themselves.

2. Accommodation
Apartment with two rooms, a bath and a kitchen, air conditioning, refrigerator, telephone, TV, washing machine, internet, etc.
For quadruple occupancy: U.S. $3 per person each day.
For double occupancy: U.S. $5 per person each day.
For single occupancy: U.S. $10 per person each day.

3. Catering
Dining at the Students' Dining Hall or the Staff's Canteen require approximately U.S. $70 per person each month. Students for short-term programs can be arranged to get meals at the fixed rate of U.S. $6 per person each day.

4. Medical Expenses
All the medical expenses are to be covered by students themselves.
